Class Objective: Classroom Etiquette and Format

Movement Concept: Place and Size

Welcome Back!

We are looking forward to the start of a wonderful year of ballet and musical theatre classes. We are so excited to have expanded our classes to include River Oaks Baptist School. Ms. Ellen is back this year after taking some time to pursue roles at The Alley Theatre, Theatre Under the Stars and recently getting engaged. Everyone had a great time at our summer dance and musical theatre camps in June, July and August. Even with all of this terrific news, one of best feelings is seeing the students – new and returning – for our first class. We truly thank you for instilling a love for the arts in your children and for supporting our program. We can’t wait to see what this year has in store!

Please Save the Date:

Parent Observations will be during class the week of November 17. You are invited to come to your child’s normal class time for a demonstration.

We will begin our year discussing proper etiquette for young dancers and actors. Please take a minute to read the Manners for Dancers handout with your child. These manners will form the basis of our class each week. We will focus our movement on dancing in one place versus using our whole space/stage. The students will gain awareness of the size of their movements (walking like a mouse versus walking like an elephant for the younger girls and sauté versus grand jeté for the older girls.
